often i'm a slow reader because a lot of times i'll get stuck on the issue of how something is pronounced, lose focus on what i was doing, and start daydreaming.

i also seem to have trouble reading when music with vocals is playing in the background.

but when i turn off the music and make an effort to stop sub-vocalizing, i read a lot faster and understand more.
