Not much of a surprise: There's no reason to expect that government-work would be an amazingly better outcome than other places LLMs have been tried.

I totally believe it would be possible to create AI that replaces some positions in a useful way. But, it would require actual work and care and data collection and testing. Not, like, arrogance driven programming.
