The idea was that you'll mention that in the email when you send the invite link to your friends.

Why can't I just send an email to all, why creating a link, copy and paste in email then send? seems like a lot of work here.

The purpose is to not get a bunch of replies back from your friends that you have to read through and interpret each as 'yes' and 'no' and keep count.
