The original switch revision had an unpatchable hardware vulnerability that let you run unsigned code from the bootrom. It's been broken since year one.
If you can find the video explaining how they did it (I guess it was presented at chaos computer club), it's a must see: very funny and enlightening ! (for a geek, that is)
