i've always thought it would be interesting to create a quarterly token system for meetings where meetings cost tokens depending on number of attendees (where ics are "expensive") and the ideal effect is that some level of consensus needs to be reached prior to calling the meeting in order to pool the tokens needed to pay for it.

the reason why there are too many meetings is because they are free.



I've heard of something like this being used to buy priority for a dev team to work, but expanding a similar system to scheduling meetings would be interesting. the biggest problem would probably be "meetings" become informal things to get around the rules rather than improve practices.


Ah ha! I like it. Mangers with a restricted budget for meetings. The more people they invite, the more rapidly their quota burns.
