I'm skeptical. My experience shows that technical choices are often driven by politics:
- The boss knows the people selling the software so he chooses it based on that
- The boss used this software in the past and he wants to stick with it
- Penny pinching (Superior software is more expensive)
- The boss who chooses the software doesn't have to use it.
- We get this software for free because it is included in another contract. We might as well use it...
And many other bad reasons.
