We'll start out with a few beers and pizzas, then do some talks and presentations followed by more beers. The crowd is really friendly and you'll meet lots of great new people.

I went as a loner as it was fine. The people are friendly and there are other loners around who will talk to you if you stand around when the talks aren't on.
