Same on anything resembling a mobile device

The app that could’ve been a blog post

Yes, and Dropbox could have been a handful of unix commands.

I don't think I would use an app for this, but as far as I can tell, it aims to crowdsource silent locations, something a shortcut couldn't realistically achieve.

In my opinion, it’s good to make these mistakes earlier rather than later on. You got the scars early enough to think there must be a better way, as opposed to starting with the “old school way” and then thinking that AWS/GCP would make it easier.

hm, I think I would've never gone with a cloud provider if I knew about these low-barrier self-hosting solutions.

it definitely helps to have scars, though. just pray something/someone takes you out of the pain soon enough (it took me ~4y to finally realize there has to be a better way at least for small/medium projects)

For the file system, the OS could do something similar to what iOS is doing when you want to share a picture - giving the user control over which pictures the app has access to. Yeah, for a gallery app it could render the app quite useless because of the UX, but it would solve the issue itself IMO.

Not a startup founder nor do I really have much knowledge in dealing with equity, but assuming that 51% of the equity remains with OP, couldn’t they give the spouse “equity without executive power”? I know I’ve heard of that concept somewhere but can’t remember exactly where from.

At least for linux, I would assume that it hugely comes down to how much of a personal statement the OS is to developers.

I use Arch btw.

Well, yes, "Linux" is not well-specified. When one installs Arch, they hopefully know what they want, and it's something else than just a low-maintenance casual desktop OS. :)

Be the change you want to see in the world. Those that feel the same will follow, and even moreso if they see they’re not alone.

Might “Theone” perhaps be a better one to use? Still stays somewhat true to the pronunciation of Devin, but with an emphasis on being The One that might actually work /s

I would think that there’s definitely VC money in making your customers happy. What makes them happy might be different, but I believe the sentiment still remains

Happy customers might work, maybe, possibly.

Dependent customers does work, even when they're miserable and they hate you. Consider some examples, from worse is better through addiction.

Wouldn’t that incentivize more intricate methods for large corporations to pay larger income? I understand what he’s going for, but I personally think that such a tax law might cause unintended consequences and perverse incentives

And our current tax laws don't?
