for me it got dramatically worse. it cant read whole files of concatenated code anymore. seems like its attention is much smaller. doing lots of piecemeal behind-the-scenes cmd line stuff now instead of just seeming to "understand" everything in one go. somewhat catastrophic for me. so bad that i was surprised to discover that chatgpt 5 is still worse
(relevant self promotion) i wrote a cli tool called slupe that lets web based llm dictate fs changes to your computer to make it easier to do ai coding from web llms https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44776250
can you explain a little more about how this would work and in what situations? like how is the driver llm ultimately protected from malicious text. or does it all get removed or cleaned by the agent code
i haven't tried your project yet but it looks cool. not sure if u saw that the name is already being used. a unique name and information about how the two projects are different would probably be helpful for visitors
I’m sorry dang but no, this is not hostility. Again a startup has a monumental mountain to climb, critical and authentic feedback is absolutely not hostile. It’s valuable food for thought.
The link you referenced is looking for “objects in the mirror” I’m not sure how that’s related here.
Frankly HN has become an Orwellian environment, perhaps after 14+ years I’m no longer welcome here.
Seems to have been a combination of ophthalmic issues and severe migraine photosensitivity - apparently he could only bear to read or write in short snatches.
2 billion dollars over 5 years? That's peanuts! If anything I would increase spending to a billion dollars a year. Would still dedicate most of the budget to accelerating the energy transition, which is trillion of dollars worth of stuff.
yes there is. that's an enormous added pricing and communication complexity for businesses. which we know has a high cost because of all the businesses who have decided it would be higher than just stomaching the credit card fees.
Would a 1 percent cash or debit discount be an enormous burden? Some merchants already programmed their terminals to prod debit customers into entering their PIN rather than charging it as credit, so would offering a discount really be that much harder?
One answer is: It's just annoying. I normally use a credit card. Yes, I can use my debit card and enter a PIN. If it's a discount specifically for cash, I may not have any on me and don't want the change anyway. In any case, it's adding mental overhead to just paying.
(It's usually more like 3% delta which I almost get in cashback anyway but still annoying.)
