> Windows 11 could've been a fantastic OS. Instead of pushing AI crap and adding Copilot to Notepad (I kid you not), Microsoft could focus on fixing multi-year bugs and cleaning up the UI mess.
Imagine if they started on Windows 7, pinned the design, and continued fixing only old bugs. What a nice OS it could be!
Yeah. It's hard to express and understand nested structures in a natural language yet they are easy in high-level programming languages. E.g. "the dog of first son of my neighbour" vs "me.neighbour.sons[0].dog", "sunny and hot, or rainy but not cold" vs "(sunny && hot) || (rainy && !cold)".
In the past maths were expressed using natural language, the math language exists because natural language isn't clear enough.
For me personally, the question now is: when will I need to implement all the design solutions the OpenAI team has done, but for my personal pet project, which is on a completely different scale? I have FOMO. E.g, do I need that massive observability stack that any DevOps would be proud of, or are console logs okay? :/
Trying to figure out if this observation was intended to frame it so that it's less|same|more scary. The effect is more, but it sounds like the intention was less.
If this is in [my] browser, why should I pay?
