I'm sorry you were not able to get through to us...or to get your magazines. Please send your details to me at john.steele@nautilusdigitalmedia.com and we will make it right.
Because of the delays in getting the next issue out, Nautilus suspended new print subscription sales until we got back on track with the printing. The print subscriptions will be back on sale in November.
In 2015 Nautilus was transferred from an LLC to a 501(c)(3). As the transfer was in process, NautilusThink paid Nautilus Venture LLC to produce the magazine because the staff and contracts were still in the name of Nautilus Ventures. Is was a cost passthrough. Nautilus is fully owned by NautilusThink and Nautilus Ventures was closed.
Nautilus Cosmos is a special project exploring astrobiology, fine tuning, the multiverse and dark matter. That is the reason for the amount of focused content.
Pardon my presumption in asking, but assuming that clickbait titles actually work as intended, what balance do you seek between pageviews and accuracy? In relation to that choice, what type of audience do you seek?
We avoid clickbait titles, compared to what you see on a lot of sites, but try to make the title appealing and accurately informative. Pageviews are important, you want to be read...but we always strive for accuracy and context. It can be a fine line struggle that all media goes through.
We admit the player was clunky. We have a new one, as you can see in our interview with Ricard Saykally, http://nautil.us/issue/25/water/ingenious-richard-saykally, And are going through the process of converting earlier interviews.
Make sure you add some extra-padding at the bottom of the playlist, as the last item is barely visible if the height of height of the whole player is greater than the height of the page visible height.
I'm the "crazy" founder of Nautilus. We are a science magazine, with a multidisciplinary approach. We want to explore each monthly issue topic from disciplines within and outside the sciences, like philosophy. But we are mostly about telling good stories....science with a literary voice.
