Whoever was in charge of Mac OS X at that time should be promoted to the President of Operating Systems of this entire planet.

But they're happily selling drone parts to Russians dropping bombs on civilians (or "whatever").

In fact, they are also selling drones to Ukraine.

Yes and the USA trained and gave weapons to the Taliban and many other terror organizations. "China sold none weapons to another country" really pales in comparison.

This is wrong. The US did not give weapons to the Taliban (voluntarily). If you mean Operation Cyclone their receiver was not the Taliban but the mujahadeen, which, yes, consisted of Taliban, but also of enemies of the taliban (northern alliance)

The Northern Alliance contain some people who are probably even worse than the Taliban so while you are technically right I am not sure it matters.

What are you expecting when you're physically in another country attempting to annex it?

The only reason I suspect Iranian proxies are not doing the same in the US is right now the US is just Trump in Iran with 2/3rds of the country not supporting him. The day a bunch of civilians bite it partying in Miami, that calculation changes.

The US is "guilty" of materially supporting Ukraine in a bid to defend itself. The US isn't mad at Russia or China for doing the same for Iran as this is all... fairly normal in geo politics.

Russian bot detected?

This is naive on so many levels. Yandex is Russian government. You can't take a shit without KGB in Russia.

Only the Russian business is in hands of Russian investors since 2024.

And again, you can check that Kagi answers any query about Russia yourself.

enrico, at this point you're knowingly spreading misinformation. I corrected you in my last comment: the yandex search index is owned by the russian entity. there is no non-russian "yandex" anymore, period.

> After a short transition period following completion, YNV will cease to use the Yandex brand, which will be retained by the Target group. We expect that our International Businesses will develop their own branding going forward. We intend to seek shareholder approval to change the legal name of YNV in due course.

I think this needs to be addressed with a crowd-funded projectile. This sort of stuff must be done on a planetary-scale consensus basis only.

What a terrible tyranny of the majority problem that would be. I reject this idea completely

Not to mention scandals like this...

"In 2018 she received a total of $2,458,350 in compensation from Mozilla, which represents a 400% payrise since 2008. On the same period, Firefox marketshare was down 85%. When asked about her salary she stated "I learned that my pay was about an 80% discount to market. Meaning that competitive roles elsewhere were paying about 5 times as much. That's too big a discount to ask people and their families to commit to."

In 2020, after returning to the position of CEO, her salary had risen to over $3 million. In the same year the Mozilla Corporation laid off approximately 250 employees due to shrinking revenues. Baker blamed this on the Coronavirus pandemic"

Incidentally, I have recently come across some Mozilla job postings with salary ranges I would consider to be at a considerable "discount to market". For example, here is a senior role at 59 000 euro per year: https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/mozilla/jobs/7843229

That salary would be OK for an actual charity where you work there because you believe in the mission. The problem is that Mozilla is confused and thinks they should be a for profit corporation with a bloated executive.

Failed their way to the top.

Imagine getting paid millions to kill a company, who needs enemies/competitors when you have “leaders” like that?

I remember Nokia and their CEO from Microsoft.

Everything is perfect here. The hero, the graphics, the title... <3

I like the theme too. In general, author does not seem to follow typical rules. In my opinion, this is a huge bonus for him as an artist.

Sorry for the off-topic, but I wish our FreeBSD camp could roll back a little from this faux-corporate glass ball without soul and a font from the early 90s spaceship toy box, to Beastie and a stylish serif. What I was trying to say - I'm in envy. OpenBSD artwork is absolutely amazing!

For me the word becquerel itself requires some additional brain power points to write. Is it bequerel or becquerel? Do we capitalize it or not? Not when written, but Bq is capitalized, so it's indeed kBq. But then again, is it per second? No, the unit, has per second in it already... And we not need to confuse it with B for byte. I thoroughly enjoyed the article but there's no need to complicate the world further. rps is perfectly fine.

I don't understand this - where's Trident VGA?

It's surprising to see an OS, dominant as a sever platform, now optimizing catering to people who are unsure whether they've pressed a button on their keyboard. What's next, replacing asterisks with a progress bar?

You are down-voted, but if we consider this to be the reason, it is indeed sad.

You can no longer filter out power users of computers based on their choice of OS alone. :D
