Senior Haskell Engineer @ HASURA | Full-time & Consultants | REMOTE

hasura.io is hiring senior Haskell developers. We build tools for developers to reduce the effort that goes into building backends for applications. One of our core products is the opensource graphql-engine which gives the developer a realtime GraphQL backend on a Postgres database: https://github.com/hasura/graphql-engine

Requirements: We are looking for someone who - has Haskell experience - has architected large scale applications in Haskell - has an understanding of the current best practices for writing production code - knows how to optimise Haskell code for performance

Good to have: - Experience working with relational databases

Location: Bangalore, India or remote.

How to apply: If this role interests you, please reach out to us at work [AT] hasura.io. Please mention HN and let us know if you're looking for a full-time role or short term consulting.

We follow this exact same architectural approach at hasura.io as well. We are an opensource realtime GraphQL engine on Postgres and just last week we announced event-triggers on Postgres that allows you to call webhooks/serverless functions anytime there is a change in your database. (I work at Hasura)

I think the relevant bits are in the second half of the article. Squats, stretches and general moving around is good for anyone who has a sedentary job. Too much sitting or standing is not a good idea overall.

Would you like to try out our alternative approach instead at Hasura.io? Parse like API on Postgres - with all SQL queries possible! We'd love to chat if you are still evaluating options @HasuraHQ. We are launching our public beta next week. Here is a short post of our take on the Parse shutdown: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10994104

Yes absolutely. Hasura.io is coming up with a BaaS which is also simultaneously trying to address the "full control over your backend" problem. We put up some of our thoughts here:https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10994104

That's exactly our thought (hasura.io) while we prepare for our "launch" next week. We've been studying Parse's growth and are definitely going after their market. Our core philosophy with the BaaS is however to keep it as open as possible. We wrote this up in response to Parse shutting down: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10994104

Is it production ready?

Yes! We have over 20 apps build on in during our alpha phase - ranging from e-commerce to payment wallets. Let us know if you'd be interested to try out the beta version releasing next week. You can write to us at build@hasura.io or @HasuraHQ.

Developers will now be skeptical about using any BaaS. It can be acquired and shut down. They have every reason to be. We built a BaaS too. It is however built around this core philosophy of developers having complete control over their app backends. Here is the post we wrote about this: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10994104

We are working on this @Hasura.io. This is our blogpost in response to the Parse shutdown. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10994104

"schools are going to have to pay more attention to careers and what employers want". India being one of the countries focussed on, this is definitely a huge problem. Most students aren't sure of what the real world applications of what they learn are. Compulsory 6 month internships, exposure to a lot of companies and the work that people with their educational qualifications do and of course very simple interpersonal skills can go a long way. I run my own company and I still get resumes in .doc format, which were forwarded to me after being sent to another employer! Recommendations have proven to be the best way to hire for us even though those resumes have not been too impressive to begin with!

North Korea, Vietnam and India are the ones with over 50% grain consumption (63%, 57%, 57%). Grains here would mean both carbs and protein (pulses). It would be interesting to see the same chart with a carbs and protein split.

protein (pulses)

That's a new term for me -- Wikipedia says it's another name for the English definition of legume: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse_(legume)
