Getting people to the moon is plentry useful for getting an objective you can hang all kinds of useful advancements off.

Are you saying we should repeat it? For science!

> There is no substitute for high quality work.

Have you taken a look at the world in the past… I dunno, at least several decades. That ceased to be true somewhere around the time I was in high school, maybe before.

Of course my claude repos have zero stars. Most of them were created in the past 4 months.

If Steam was run by EA I’d abandon it in a second though. All those games that are left behind aren’t super relevant since I already barely play them.

Does that happen to state sponsored Iranian hackers?

the comments are about "private firms hacking back"

not about highly specialized groups hacking first

but also "professional hackers" have screwed over hospitals before and confirmed it was accidental, so potentially yes

worse Iranian terrorist with hacking skills might intentional target hospitals and they might not sit in Iran so disconnecting Iran is unlikely to help at all with such a threat

This is a good idea. I need to start getting phone numbers from people.

You can use Go and get the best of both worlds.

One of the slowest, most ineficient code bases I've ever worked on was in Go.

The mentality was "the language is fast, so as long as it compiles we're good"... Yeah that worked out about as well as you'd expect.

But that has nothing to do with the language.

Absolutely, and it's a good language when used properly. This was more of a problem with the hype surrounding it.

Codex being faster is not at all equivalent to working better. Claude Code does what I need from it most of the time.

I said better, not faster. Primarily, it writes better code, works more smoothly, is better at describing what it's doing and what it's done.

Well, yes, but it was in response to a post mostly waxing lyrical about using rust instead of typescript, so forgive me if I got the wrong impression.

Also, that is so far outside my experience that I can’t tell if you are joking.

Codex seems to always do exactly what I ask of it, nothing more, and nothing less, and with as many shortcuts as possible.

Steam, and Valve are solely responsible for me never having to deal with Windows, because they’ve made linux gaming easy. I’d use steam just for that.
